Contemporary Art by Georgina Starr
from Saturday 16 march 2019
Sextantio le Grotte della Civita
Via Civita, 28, 75100 Matera MT

Welcoming, meeting, living together. The three values that establish the concept of Matera Alberga passed on by six artists in the spaces of the same number of hotels scattered around the city. Installations and works create a bridge between rocky and contemporary civilisation.

For Hotel Sextantio, Georgina Starr’s presentation, curated by Francesco Cascino, is focused on the sound evoked by a text by Nietzsche. In addition, the Civita grottoes reminded her of a text by Cesares which tells about a man who, alone on an island, invents a time machine, a type of eternal recorder of the events of his life. For Georgina, history only catalogues, in small syntheses, the lives of people then hides real, daily truth. The artist perfects a device from which an original text can be heard which stops the memory of visitors at that moment, to make it indelible and let them imagine being part of those memories.
